Welcome new subscribers
A welcome series in three emails: one right away, a second three days later, and a third only for readers who engaged.
You need: a verified domain and a list, for example "Newsletter", with a signup form or your app adding people to it.
Create the flow
Open Flows › New flow, name it "Newsletter welcome", then set:
- Starts when: A contact subscribes to a list, and pick "Newsletter";
- Re-entry: Once per contact, so someone who leaves and comes back is not welcomed twice.
Write the welcome email
Click Add email. This one leaves as soon as the subscription is confirmed.
- Subject:
Welcome to Acme Weekly - Content: say what they will receive, how often, and one thing to do now.
Hi {{ contact.first_name | default: "there" }},
Thanks for joining Acme Weekly. Every Tuesday, you'll get one practical idea
to run your shop better, in five minutes of reading.
While you wait for the next issue, here is the one readers liked most:
[How we halved our shipping costs](https://acme.com/blog/shipping).
Hit reply and tell me what you sell: I read every answer.
Replies are a strong positive signal for mailbox providers.
Wait three days
Click Add delay and set 3 Days.
Send your best content
Click Add email again, with a subject like Our 5 most read issues. Link to your best articles or features.
Keep the third email for engaged readers
Click Add delay and set 4 Days, then Add condition:
- Continue only if: Email activity, opened an email, within 7 days.
Contacts who never opened exit the flow here.
Then Add email for the last message: an offer, a survey or an invitation to follow you elsewhere.
Test and activate
Open each email and use Send a test to check it in your inbox. Then click Activate.
What to expect
- Only new subscriptions start the flow. People already on the list, and imported contacts, do not receive it.
- With double opt-in, the flow starts when the subscriber clicks the confirmation link.
- Follow each subscriber in the Runs tab, and the results of each email on the flow page.
- To change an email later, edit it directly: subscribers who have not reached it yet get the new version. To add or move steps, Pause the flow first.
